Police Blotter: Motorist Has a Bad Car Day on I-271

Information supplied by the Mayfield Village Police Department

An officer was out checking on a motorist changing a flat tire at 3 p.m. July 24 on Interstate 271 southbound. The tire was changed at 3:07 p.m. and the car started moving again, only to have more troubles. The officer assisted by jump-starting the car and it was moving again.

A man flagged down an officer near the police station on SOM Center Road at 5:47 p.m. July 24 and said he was having domestic issues with his sister, who was highly intoxicated and trying to start fights. He added that there was a small child in the home. Police said there was an argument was about a 4-year-old girl and the man agreed to take responsibility for her until the girl's mother returned.

Police found a bay door open at the old police annex at 1:17 a.m. July 24. It had been opened during the day to keep a heat detector alarm from going off and no one shut the door.

A Thornapple Drive woman called police at 11:36 p.m. July 23 about a party next door. She said it wasn't too out of control, but occasionally drunken hollering was keeping her up. Police spoke to the homeowner, who said she would try to keep it down.

A car parked on Bonnieview Road at 10:26 p.m. July 23 had an interior light on and items were strewn all over the inside. Police tried to contact the owner to check if that was the car's normal condition, but didn't get an answer and left a message.

A Hickory Hill Drive woman called police at 10:41 a.m. July 23 and said there was a red pickup in the area of her home and a man in her back yard. She asked what he was doing and he said, "I'm at the wrong house." Police checked the area, but did not see the suspect.

A man was walking in the middle of the road at 2:44 a.m. July 23 on SOM Center Road. He was soaked from the storm and police drove him to Euclid Avenue and Richmond Road.
