Police Blotter: Officers Unable to Find Source of Loud Noise

A loud explosion was reported at 10:47 p.m. Oct. 22 on Hardwood Court. A caller thought it might had been a transformer, but there was no transformers in the area. One resident said the noise sounded like it was from Gates Mills. Several Gates Mills residents had also reported the noise to that police department. Police from both villages checked and were unable to find the source of the disturbance.
A caller thought someone might be lying on the side of the road from an accident at 4:59 p.m. Oct. 23 on Interstate 271 northbound. Police said the man was on the ground because he was jacking up his car to fix a flat tire.
A woman called at 2:07 p.m. Oct. 23 and said she saw an accident 10 minutes earlier at SOM Center and Wilson Mills roads involving a silver car and a black Lexus. A dispatcher told the woman no call came from the drivers in the accident and they might had settled it themselves.
Several callers around 8:50 a.m. Oct. 23 complained that the traffic light at Wilson Mills Road and the northbound Interstate 271 exit ramp was flashing in all directions. Police checked and the signal was working fine.
