Police Blotter: Pickups, Ferrari Involved in Race on I-271

police reported at 7:31 p.m. May 3 that four vehicles were racing at speeds of more than 100 mph on Interstate 271. The race involved a red Ferrari, a maroon car, a white pickup and a red pickup. One car was stopped and the driver, who had a New York state license, was cited for a speed of 79 mph in a 60 mph zone.

A Robley Lane man called at 2:10 p.m. May 3 and wanted special attention to his residence. Lumber had been delivered and he didn't want it to "walk away."

A man was asking people for money at a Beta Drive hotel. Police checked and the man is a registered sex offender. Hotel management did not want formal charges filed and the man was warned that he would be arrested for trespassing if he returned to either Beta Drive hotel.

A motorist called at 3:59 p.m. May 2 to suggest that police watch cars leaving the D.O. Summers car wash on Wilson Mills Road because they sometimes drive too fast.

A Thornapple Drive resident reported neighbor trouble at 8:33 p.m. April 30. He said his neighbor's dog relived itself on his property. When he went to speak to the dog's owner about it, she acted like she didn't care, he said. The man said he had pictures of the offense. Police talked to the woman, who agreed to clean up the mess and make sure it doesn't happen again.
