Police Blotter: Resident Wouldn't Listen to Man who Wanted to Report Suspected Fire

A suspicious man went to a Ridgebury Boulevard residence at 9:23 a.m. Dec. 23 and wanted to speak to the resident, who refused to talk to him and called police instead. The man then went across the street to another house, she said. Police said the man was walking down the street when he saw smoke coming from a house and was trying to let someone know. The smoke turned out to be steam from a dryer.

There was a large party and banging on the wall at 2:41 a.m. Dec. 27 at a Marsol Road apartment, two callers reported. Officers talked to the tenant and he cleared out the apartment.

A man wearing a gray sweatshirt and white tennis shoes was spotted at 12:35 a.m. Dec. 27 looking into a window at an Orchard Heights residence.

Security at Wal-Mart was fighting with a suspected shoplifter at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 26. The man was with a woman in a beige Buick. She agreed to a search of the car and police did not find any stolen items.

A woman called at 12:02 p.m. Dec 25 and said she was assaulted by her boyfriend on Mayfield Road. Police spotted the man as he was trying to leave and he was arrested.

A woman was caught stealing at 6:05 p.m. Dec. 24 at Wal-Mart, but store management decided not to prosecute. She didn't get to go free, however, as the woman had warrants from police in Cleveland Heights and Oakwood, which decided to pick her up.

A woman had an infant with her when she was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart at 2:01 p.m. Dec. 22. Police arrested her and called the child's father, who came to pick the child up.
