Police Blotter: Texan Puts in Order for 80 Steaks

A Wilson Mills Road restaurant was called May 14 by someone requesting that 80 steaks be prepared for pickup by a courier. After some back and forth contact by fax, a restaurant worker realized that the customer was in Texas and it appeared to be some type of scam.

A person came to the police station at 12:50 p.m. May 14 after driving on SOM Center Road and hitting a dog that ran across the street. There was damage to the car and the dog was injured and taken to an animal clinic.

A caller told police that a van was stopped on the road for a while at 9:42 p.m. May 14 on Highland Road and it seemed suspicious. The driver told police that she stopped to use her cellphone.

A woman asked to move her car for Community Shred Day at the Civic Center lot became irate about having to move it 20 feet. She was upset because it was raining and she was going to be leaving soon. As she moved the car, she almost struck a woman and child and an officer yelled at her to stop. She responded by sticking her tongue out of him. He told her she was becoming disorderly and it wasn't worth getting arrested over a parking space.

An Oakwood Drive man called police at 12:17 p.m. May 12 and said he has outdoor cameras at his house and was watching it from work. He said a suspicious man wearing a ball cap was inside his gated backyard patio. Officers checked and the man was no longer there.

Highland Heights police said they received a call on May 8 about more cement chunks in local lanes of Interstate 271 at Wilson Mills Road. The Ohio Department of Transportation was notified about the problem, which stems from a cement patch that was breaking up.
