Police Blotter: Woman Tells Police She Jumped Curb to Avoid Drunken Driver

A woman said a black Volkswagen Beetle came at her head on at 3:23 a.m. July 24 at Mayfield and East Miner roads and she jumped the curb to get out of the way. Police arrested the driver of the Volkswagen, a South Euclid resident, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Traffic lights were reported out on Mayfield Road from Chelmsford to Lander at 5:33 p.m. July 22.
A caller said a person on a sport bike was going more than 100 mph on Interstate 271 at 11:57 a.m. July 22. The bike exited at Mayfield Road and headed east.
Traffic signals were out on Mayfield Road at Golden Gate Plaza and by Giant Eagle at 6:57 p.m. July 22. An auxiliary officer was assigned to direct traffic by Golden Gate Plaza. Power was restored at 8:55 p.m.
A Temple Avenue man called police at 6:14 p.m. July 22 and said someone entered his house through a locked computer room. He did not want an officer to come to his house, however.
A dog was locked in a car with windows only slightly cracked at 5:13 p.m. July 23 at Golden Gate Plaza. Police issued a citation to the car's owner.
A Marsol Road woman called police at 11:14 a.m. July 23 and said she had a disagreement with her husband and he threatened to kill her and their two children if she called police. Police arrested the man for domestic violence.
A woman was selling purses from her car at 9:10 a.m. July 23 in a parking lot at Golden Gate Plaza. She was told to stop until she got a soliciting permit.
Two cars were trying to run each other off the road at 1:37 a.m. July 24 on Interstate 271 southbound, according to a caller received by Highland Heights police, which notified Mayfield Heights. Police said the incident started on Chardon Road, where the cars rammed each other. Police said it was a domestic incident and both drivers were strongly advised about their actions.
A man called police at 5:01 p.m. July 24 to report that his motorcycle was stolen from an apartment lot on SOM Center Road. He left it there during a thunderstorm and it was gone when he went to pick it up.
Someone tried to enter a Longridge Road residence, a man reported at 4:10 p.m. July 24. He said it was his mother's house and someone tried to enter through the man door on the garage. Also, a kitchen window was broken.
An Ashcroft Drive woman called police at 9:46 p.m. July 24 because she wanted to talk to an officer about kids cutting through her yard.
Police were out with some juveniles who were outside a Mayfield Road business at 4:36 a.m. July 22. They were all supposed to be at one house, but snuck out. Police turned them over to an adult.
