Police Blotter: Wrong-Way Driver, a Brotherly Dispute and a Rude Neighbor

Police closed a portion of Interstate 271's northbound express lane Saturday morning after receiving a call regarding a driver traveling the wrong direction. The call came in at 1:35 a.m., and an officer soon stopped the vehicle. A semi-truck driver lost one of his two trailers because he swerved to avoid the southbound vehicle. A stretch of the express lane near the Lander Road bridge was closed for about 20 minutes.

A Bonnie Lane woman told police on Saturday afternoon that her ex-husband had intentionally caused a motor vehicle crash between the two the previous night in Highland Heights. She added that she had received several voicemails and text messages from him since the collision. She said none of the incidents occurred in Mayfield Heights, but she wanted police to be aware of the situation. She requested extra patrol for the next week.

A motorist called police at 2:35 p.m. Saturday after witnessing the driver of a Lexus hit a parked Toyota Camry in a lot on SOM Center Road. The caller said he questioned the driver, who responded by denying any collision before driving off. The caller said he left a note for the owner of the Camry.

A man from Worton Boulevard called police at 8:34 p.m. Friday with a complaint that his brother took his car out of his garage, despite knowledge that their father had signed the title over to him. His brother refused his attempts to get the car back. When an officer called the man's brother to advise him of the title, he said the car could be retrieved in Chardon. The initial caller planned to have the Chardon Police Department assist him in getting the car back.

A woman on Eastwood Avenue complained to police Friday morning that her juvenile neighbor screamed profanities at her before turning his music up. She said this had been an ongoing problem. By the time officers arrived, the male left for school. The woman was told to call again if the issue continued.
