Project Love Recognizes Mayfield High Student As A Teen Leader

Sarah Korsten -- a student at Mayfield High School -- was one of Project Love's 10 finalists for its 14th Annual Searching for Teen Leaders program.

Sarah, as well her fellow finalists, were selected from more than 100 nominations.

Each of the teens, who are from grades 7 through 12, were nominated for the award by their schools, peers, family members or other local community organizations for their outstanding acts of leadership and kindness.

The finalists each submitted an essay describing their ideas about community service and leadership.

This is how Project Love described Sarah:

Sarah attends Mayfield High School and is involved in band, Peace Core, Key Club, and is on the diving team. She also sings with the Praise Team at her church.

Sarah is dedicated to being the best student and well-rounded person she can be. She believes in doing her own work and setting high goals for herself and giving credit where credit is due.

Sarah is a very trustworthy person. She is very reliable; when Sarah gives her word, she keeps it. Sarah is a very loyal friend. Sarah can communicate with any age group. She has compassion and patience.

Sarah is not a person who will "toot her own horn" and truly is a “hero behind the scenes.” She was nominated by TWO teachers for the AVIS Award (Attitude Visible In School).

Sarah is not only beautiful on the outside, but she is truly genuine and beautiful on the inside. Project Love is pleased to recognize Sarah’s dedication, leadership, conscientiousness and independence as a teen leader.

Though she did not win one of the four leadership awards, that in no way detracts from the good Sarah has accomplished.

Her fellow finalists were Travis Carver, a student at Chardon and Auburn Career Center; Courtney Griffith of Strongsville; Maria Nicolini of Massillon; Michelle Arnold of Maple Heights; Jacob Beck of Columbia Station; Sayble Bradley of
Warrensville; Kenneth Hughell of Painesville Township; Megan Bradley of Cuyahoga Falls and Ross Brenner of DelRay Beach, Florida.

Megan Bradley, Sayble Bradley, Travis Carver and Courtney Griffith each received $1,000 leadership awards.

Project Love is a character‐building education and training organization located in Lyndhurst. Through workshops, community events, leadership training and media programs, Project Love empowers teens and adults to build a culture of kindness, caring and respect wherever they go.
