Speed Cameras On I-271? Mayfield Considers Additions
Will photo-enforcement for speeding cars curtail dangerous driving on I-271?
MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OH — Arguing there has been an uptick in speeding, Mayfield police have proposed adding photo-enforcement cameras along I-271 north.
Mayfield Village Police Chief Paul Matias told Fox 8 his officers have seen a dangerous increase in speeding along the interstate, with the average speeding ticket now being written for drivers going 89 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Mayfield Village Council will need to approve the program, which includes cameras and hand-held lasers to monitor speeding. A private company would administer the program and receive a cut of the revenue.
