St. Paschal Baylon Has Patriot Day Observance Sunday
Masses, Ministry Fair, prayer service are planned.

Remembrance and reconciliation will be the themes on Sunday as Church in Highland Heights observes the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Rev. John Thomas Lane, St. Paschal Baylon pastor, said the parish has done something in honor of Patriot Day each year since it was officially named a holiday under former President George W. Bush.
"Because it's on a Sunday this year, we're able to tie Mass to it," he added. "It just so happens that the readings for Mass that day tie in very well."
The Rev. Lane said his message to parishioners is that Jesus taught us to forgive and that, while we remember those who lost their lives, we should make the observance a positive one and forgive those responsible for the attacks.
"There's no limit to God's love," he said.
As part of Patriot Day, parishioners are also being encouraged to sign up to volunteer service at a Ministry Fair after Masses. The Rev. Lane said service could be liturgical – ushers and communion ministers are needed – or could be with the Clown and Helping Hands Ministry or other of the parish's 62 committees and organizations.
"It's a chance to sign up and give time and talents back for the good of the parish," he said.
Students at the parish school are also getting involved by making candles representing all 50 states for a candlelight procession that will take place at an 8 p.m. prayer service.
