Tri-City Consortium on Aging Has Resource Fair

Vendors, speaker address ways to help seniors stay in their homes.

"So You Want to Stay in Your Home?" is the theme of a Resource Fair being offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday by the Tri-City Consortium on Aging, which serves Mayfield Heights, Highland Heights, South Euclid and Lyndhurst.

The fair, which will be at the South Euclid Community Center, 1370 Victory Dr., will feature vendors from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lani Koach, Tri-City Consortium outreach coordinator, said the vendors will include home health care providers, long-term care centers, representatives from the Cleveland Sight Center, a company that adjusts showers and floors for seniors and a company with the Life Alert system.

"They address helping people staying in their house or, if they're interested in moving, long-term care options," Koach said.

At 12:30 p.m., Lisa Mansour, executive director of Breckenridge Village, will talk about living options available to older adults and costs associated with staying in your house or moving into assisted-living facilities.

Tri-City Consortium will also have information about its services, including transportation, homemaker assistance and the Benefit Bank, a screening tool connecting seniors with help paying energy bills and other programs.

"We do have a transportation program for people who no longer drive. That's the big one," Koach said. "We also have a lunch program five days a week. It travels around, but it's only $1.50 and it's very popular for people who are alone."
