Highland Heights Council rejects petitions

Highland Heights City Council unanimously rejected initiative petitions submitted by developer Lance Osborne, who is seeking to revise local business zoning to allow for a GetGo convenience store and gas station as part of a retail project at Wilson Mills and Brainard roads.

New fire chief in Mayfield Heights

Capt. Bruce Elliott was named Mayfield Heights fire chief, replacing retired Chief Michael Forte. The longest-serving full-time chief in the city's history, Forte was hired in 1978 and became chief in 1987.

Grendell leaving Senate to become judge

State Sen. Tim Grendell, R-18, of Chesterland was appointed judge of Geauga County Juvenile and Probate Court.
