Here are the headlines you may have missed from Hillcrest Patch:

Mayfield schools hold Science Showcase

The district's Science Showcase featured a catapult competition, mouse trap-powered cars, structures made of spaghetti and a cardboard regatta.

Census data is released

The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2010 Census numbers this week and the overall population in the Hillcrest Patch area didn't change too much from 2000. Mayfield Heights lost the most, with a population decline of 231 residents, while Highland Heights now has 263 more residents.

Highland Heights officials to talk to county about flooding

Highland Heights Mayor Scott Coleman wants the county to honor a commitment for sewer work that would alleviate much of the city's problems with basement flooding.

Mayfield Heights police officer passes away

Sgt. Gregory Michl
, 47, died on March 6. He had started the city's Juvenile Diversion Program and was the Mayfield Middle School resource officer.
