Akron-Canton Airport Celebrates Grand Opening of New TSA Checkpoint

WHAT: Grand opening of new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Checkpoint 

WHEN: Tuesday, January 24, 2012 10:00 a.m.             Media/ guests arrive at airport front entrance for escort to                                                                             celebration

10:30 a.m.— CAK 2018 Airport Update and TSA presentation

10:45 a.m. — Ribbon cutting ceremony

10:50 a.m. — TSA demonstration/photo ops of newest security screening                                             technology

WHERE: Please meet near the AirTran Airways ticket counter of the airport                                                   (Door 3) to check in. We will proceed to the event location at 10:15 a.m.

WHY: To officially open our new TSA security checkpoint featuring the newest security screening technology. The $3.5 million checkpoint is four times larger and is configured for four screening lanes (expandable to six lanes). An up-close live demonstration will follow the event. Photographs and film will be allowed.
