will take part in the national Character Counts Week, Sunday-Oct. 22, with a variety of activities focusing on the six pillars of character: respect, fairness, trustworthiness, caring, responsibility and citizenship.

- North Canton Mayor David Held has proclaimed it Character Counts! Week in the city.
- will discuss the pillars during their morning announcements and an “Acts of Kindness Challenge” among the home rooms will take place
- Sporting events in the North Canton City Schools District and at will feature announcements and presentations surrounding the pillars
- Signs reminding citizens to vote Nov. 8 will be placed throughout the city
- The will display signage reminding its members of the importance of the pillars when doing business
- The will be recognizing people of character at the Y and visitors will have the opportunity to express their own thoughts about each pillar on posters
Character Counts! in North Canton was organized in 2009 to create a community where all citizens, government, faith communities, schools, businesses and youth personally embrace the pillars of good character as a way of life. Members include representatives of the North Canton City Schools District, the North Canton Community Building YMCA, , Walsh University, the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce, city of North Canton, North Canton Jaycees, students, parents and retirees.
