Preserving Veterans' Stories at the North Canton Public Library Nov. 16

A free workshop on how to preserve military-veterans' stories will be held at the at 6 p.m. Nov. 16.

The 90-minute workshop will show veterans and their friends and relatives how to gather information and produce printed and visual histories. Examples of local veterans' stories will be examined, including costs and formats.

"Photos, letters to home and service records have been gathering dust in attics and basements for decades. In the U.S., we lose 1,500 veterans every day; in Stark County about 100 every month. We must preserve their sacrifices for generations to come," says W. Roderic Covey, workshop chairman, a U.S. Navy veteran from North Canton and president of the city's Veterans Memorial campaign.
