Wounds of War on Exhibit at Kent State University at Stark

Artist Fredlee Votaw is contributing to Kent State University at Stark’s salute to veterans through his mixed media exhibit, Wounds of War, which is on display until November 30 in the Main Hall Art Gallery, located at 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. The exhibit is free and open to the public and available for viewing Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. - noon.

The stirring art on display at Kent State Stark are visual expressions of Votaw’s respect for our American armed forces. The artist has 50 years of experience working with oils, watercolors, multimedia, drawing, photography and computer graphics. Lately, his focus has been on oils and multimedia. During his career, he has exhibited works of art in solo, group and competitive shows. He describes his creations as contemporary “diary art,” comprised of his responses to life, the world and his emotions.

A valued figure of the art community, Votaw has been the keynote speaker at state, national and international visual art/computer art conferences. Honored with several awards for his impressive artwork, he has taught and mentored students at local high schools and universities.
