Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad: Cheap Date

This weekend offers a great chance to see how much the leaves have changed one week into autumn. If you travel to Independence, you can take in the fall foliage from the comfort of a rail car.

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will offer trips this weekend from nine locations, though its Rockside Station is the closest to the area. The climate-controlled rail car offers coach, premium and handicap-accessible seating.

You can purchase tickets online or show up to the station 45 minutes before departure to buy tickets in person.

Where: 7900 Old Rockside Road, Independence

When: There are three different departures for the three-hour round trip, available Friday through Sunday — 9 a.m.; 12:45 p.m.; and 4:05 p.m.

Price: $17 for adults, $12 for kids
