WANTED: Actors For North Canton Playhouse's Spotlight on Youth Program

The is seeking actors for its Spotlight on Youth program.

Specifically, the organization is looking for about eight-10 male actors for upcoming shows.

The Spotlight on Youth program is an educational outreach of the North Canton Playhouse, Center for the Performing Arts, and is in its 24th year now. Through a series of dramatic plays, Spotlight on Youth brings to the audience members' attention critical issues such as domestic violence, substance abuse, eating disorders, animal abuse and bullying.

Actors perform for area schools, juvenile detention centers and jails. Recently, the Spotlight on Youth actors performed a bullying play, , in schools across Northeast Ohio.

This year, casts have changed because of graduations and also the busyness of the bully plays for both middle schools and high schools. The program now has a great need for eight-10 male actors to have this season run at its full potential.
           
If you're interested in participating, you must be 14 or older, be able to provide 
your own ride to and from the Youth Theatre meeting spot and must available 
for daytime shows, as the group performs during school hours. Typically a show will take from two to three hours out of class. 

Local schools are familiar with the program, and forms are available to give to your principal to show your involvement in the program. Each Spotlight on Youth play could be performed six to eight times in a school year. Or, plays such as the bully play could be performed as many as eight times a month. In that case, an actor could perform two or three of those per month, as their schedules allow. The hope is to have three casts for each of the bully plays.

And, actors are compensated for each show.
