Witnesses Turn in Suspected Drunken Driver Who Plowed Over Light Pole

North Canton police arrested a man who knocked over a light pole at Main and Charlotte streets and kept right on driving

North Canton police say a 47-year-old Hillsboro man was driving drunk through the city and plowed over a light pole at North Main and Charlotte streets Saturday.

The man was making a left turn from Charlotte Street onto North Main Street when his 1998 Chevrolet Blazer went over the sidewalk and struck the light pole about 8:30 p.m. He kept on driving.

Police said witnesses who were waiting at the traffic light saw the man's vehicle at the Harleigh Inn as they passed. They called police, who soon arrested the man at the hotel and booked him into the Stark County Jail.
