Hathaway Brown Senior Only Girl to Reach Semifinals of Intel Science Competition
Alice Catanzaro researched cholesterol detection at Case Western Reserve University and will soon present findings in Boston

All at once, a Hathaway Brown senior raised money for her school and became the only female from Ohio to advance as a semifinalist in an ongoing, national science contest.
Alice Catanzaro advanced to the semifinal round of the 2013 Intel Science Talent Search, a notable pre-college competition that has produced eventual Nobel Prize and National Medal of Science winners. According to HB, she was just one of two students from Ohio to reach that level and the only girl in her state to do so.
Alice worked with Dr. Chung Chiun Liu of Case Western Reserve University’s School of Engineering Electronic Design Center for four years to create a micro-electrochemical biosensor more efficiently detect cholesterol.
