Shaker Heights company reaches agreement with OSU to carry nutrition bars across campus

A Shaker Heights firm will soon benefit from The Ohio State University's plans to rid campus of unhealthy snacks.

, a vegan nutrition bar maker, has entered an agreement with OSU that will place its products at more than 40 locations across the Columbus campus. Good Greens bars will also be found in about 10,000 "welcome back" boxes that will be given to students who live on campus.

"It's at little cost to us, and it's a great branding opportunity," Good Greens co-owner Katen "Keith" Pabley said. "We know that once you taste our product, you're pretty much hooked."

Pabley created the line of bars with his wife and OSU graduate, Dr. Sangeeta "Tina" Mahajan. The bars are already found at retailers like , Marc's, Whole Foods and Phoenix Coffee. Available flavors include wild berry, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate coconut.

“We’re excited to be working with Good Greens to help promote this product to our students,” OSU Associate Director of University Residences & Dining Services Abby Hertzfeld said in a statement.

“The Good Greens Bars fall right in line with our mission to be the healthiest campus in the nation, and our Healthy Campus Initiative.”

Pabley said he is excited to see how much extra visibility Good Greens will receive from the OSU agreement. He said colleges could provide another business stream for the company.

"We think that our product symbolizes and encompasses a movement with the college-aged group," Pabley said. "When was the last time you someone eating a Twinkie?"
