Resident Spots Car Thief Driving Through Lawn

Suspect arrested in the stolen car a short time later.

The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police say a man who a resident spotted stealing their car and driving it through their lawn was arrested in Garfield Heights a short time later.

A resident of the 16500 block of Fernway Road called police at 1:49 a.m. Jan. 18 after they said they saw someone take their car, driving it over their lawn while fleeing.

Shaker Heights Police broadcast a description of the car and Garfield Heights Police spotted the car a short time later.

The driver of the car was arrested in Garfield Heights.

Two other cars were reported stolen in that 12-hour period, both on Jan. 17: one from the 20300 block of N. Park Boulevard at 1:34 p.m. and one at the 2500 block of Moreland Boulevard at 11:33 p.m.
