Shaker, County to Accept Storefront Rebate Applications
Program will grant up to 30 percent back on projects up to $38,000

Shaker Heights business owners looking to renovate their storefronts could get a boost from a county development program.
The Cuyahoga County Department of Development has announced a rebate program for property owners and business tenants across the county. Projects eligible for the rebate can receive up to 30 percent back. Projects must total no more than $38,000 to receive a maximum $11,400 rebate.
Project examples include signage, exterior painting and lighting, awnings and entryways.
Shaker business owners and tenants must apply for the rebate through the city's Economic Development Department. Potential applicants should email economic.development@shakeronline.com .
“The County’s storefront renovation program is an excellent way for businesses and building owners to extend their dollars to make improvements that will make their businesses more inviting to consumers," Economic Development Director Tania Menesse said. "Small things like a new coat of paint, landscaping and improved signage create a sense of place that matters to shoppers."
The county hopes to revitalize commercial areas and decrease exterior code violations.
The county will only make funds available for existing storefronts and independently owned businesses. Franchises and chains are not eligible. Funds will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis through the end of the year.
