Shaker Gardens Ranks High in Quality, Lower in Health Inspections

Shaker Gardens Nursing and Rehab Center rated highly for quality measures, but average for health inspections.

Overall, Shaker Gardens Nursing and Rehab Center ranked at two stars out of five in US News' latest rating on nursing homes in the country, according to a report released by US News. 

The nursing homes are judged in four categories: health inspections, nurse staffing, quality measures and fire safety.

HEALTH INSPECTIONS: 2/5 stars

NURSE STAFFING: 3/5 stars

The report lists how much time each resident gets with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nurse assistants and physical therapy staff. At Shaker Gardens, the average time is roughly the same as the state and country averages most categories. Click here for the full report. 

QUALITY MEASURES: 4/5 stars

US News measured percentages of residents who got recommended care, such as flu vaccinations, and percentages of residents who had pain, bedsores, urinary tract infections and other care-related problems. Click here for that full report. 

FIRE SAFETY: (Not rated by stars.)

This section measured how well the nursing home met National Fire Protection Agency standards in the most recent inspection. The Shaker Heights nursing home had six deficiencies. The state and country average is four. Click here for details.
