Shaker School Board Approves Bus Purchases, RTA Agreement

District will buy four buses from lowest bidder, Center City International North Coast

At its most recent meeting, the accepted bids to purchase four buses.

The Ohio Schools Council had been receiving bids on Shaker's behalf since February for three 71-passenger buses and a 65-passenger bus with a wheelchair lift.

The board announced on July 10 that it settled on Center City International North Coast, a company in Cleveland that submitted the lowest bid — $241,542 for the three, 71-passenger buses. The company will also provide the bus with a wheelchair lift for $95,080.

The board also approved the student transportation and fare card agreement with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority for the 2012-13 school year. Student fares will not increase under the agreement.

Student fare cards are valid for regular bus rides, rapid services and Park-N-Ride. One-ride student fare cards are $1.75, while two-ride cards are $3.50 and five-ride cards are $8.75.

All student fare cards issued this school year will expire Aug. 31, 2013. Students who want fare cards should contact their school.
