Sisters' Shop Offers Simply Delicious Pies

The new Shaker business offers 23 kinds of pies and five quiche flavors

Brittany Reeves has maintained a special connection to pies throughout her life.

She made pies for her entire family as a teenager. She even has a pie tattoo on her foot.

The Olmsted Falls native brought her passion for the pastry to Shaker Heights a week ago with opening of Simply Delicious Pies at 3433 Lee Road.

"Pie is just such a classic, nostalgic thing," Reeves said. "It's strange, but this is my passion."

Her pie-making enthusiasm runs so deep that she enjoyed getting little, if any, sleep during many holiday seasons to make pie after pie at her previous employer. Reeves said there were times when she thought Simply Delicious wouldn't see the light of day — she signed the lease 13 months ago. However, she now views the venture as "just sort of hanging out" and doing what she loves. She has almost zero interest in cakes or making other baked goods.

"I feel like we can have this one thing and make it the best possible and not spread ourselves too thin," she said.

Reeves asked her older sister, Beth Kaboth, to help run the shop and manage marketing. Kaboth, who helped build anticipation for the shop via social media, said her younger sister's best pies are key lime and cherry peach. In all, Simply Delicious offers 23 kinds of pies and five quiche flavors, including bacon and apple and spinach.

"I feel selfish because I get to do what I want to do and everyone else is so supportive," Reeves said. "I love every second of it."

The sisters looked at a lot of places before opening, but were won over by Shaker's desire for new businesses. Now, the duo is gearing up to provide pies to customers during the holidays and for the remainder of the wedding season.

"When I left the last place that I worked, I loved it so much that there was nothing else that I wanted to do," Reeves said. "I had to find a way to do it."
