Sobriety Checkpoint to be Held on Kinsman Road

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Cleveland Post will hold a drunk driving checkpoint on Kinsman Road tonight.

The exact location will be announced today.

The checkpoint is meant to intercept impaired drivers. The state highway patrol received federal grant funds to hold the checkpoint. It will be held in conjunction with "nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes," according to a statement from The Ohio State Highway Patrol.

“There were 18 OVI-related fatal crashes Cuyahoga County last year,” Lieutenant A. Matos, commander of the Cleveland Post, said.  “State troopers make on average 25,000 arrests statewide each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers.

"OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
