Thefts Reported From a Dozen Cars

Shaker Heights Police arrest man in connection with thefts.

The Shaker Heights Police Department supplied the following information. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Over a dozen Shaker Heights residents reported that items were stolen from their cars the weekend of Oct. 5, police report.

And all the cars had a common thread: they were unlocked.

On Oct. 9 Shaker Heights Police arrested 19-year-old Jordan Williams of Cleveland in connection with the thefts, said DeMuth. He's been charged with receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor.

Police tweeted last week for residents to lock their vehicles, and Lt. Jeff DeMuth added that valuables should be locked in the trunk or out of sight if they must be kept in the car.

Some of the thefts occurred on Braemer, Winchell, Chadbourne, Newell and Normandy roads, as well as Chagrin Boulevard.
