Yoga Instructor Among Shaker Entrepreneurs in Home Business Fair

Luna Presence Yoga owner and 24 other companies will be on display Saturday at Horseshoe Lake Park

It took Julie Konrad a while, but she recently realized that the perfect place for her new yoga studio was staring her in the face every day.

"I'm currently redoing my home and living room as a studio," the owner of Luna Presence Yoga said. "It's the perfect size, hardwood floors and lots of lights."

Because of the change, Konrad said the timing of the Home Based Business Fair on Saturday is also perfect. She'll be one of 25 entrepreneurs featured at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at .

"I'm looking forward to having this opportunity," Konrad said. "I'm so grateful for the opportunity to showcase myself.

"A lot of people say, 'Do you need to talk to Shaker about having a business in your house?' I tell them, they're actually encouraging it."

The city is touting the event as a chance for residents to see its hidden gem — the ingenuity of business owners who don't operate under a storefront.

Other businesses to be featured at the fair include Rodan & Fields Dermatologists, Best of Both Worlds Schoolhouse and Norm Friedman Communications. Owners like Konrad do not advertise, so the event will give them exposure to plenty of potential customers.

"I'm trying to get the word out, trying to make (Luna Presence) more of a niche experience," Konrad said. "It's in the Fernway neighborhood, where everyone is walking to school. I want to make this a place you can go to after you did your morning run and dropped the kids off at school."

Konrad, who was previously a contractor at in Beachwood and the Cleveland Racquet Club, said she'll use the fair as a chance to debunk a few perceptions about yoga.

"It's about sharing something that I can make people feel good about in their bodies," she said. "Yoga is really what you take out in the world with you, not that you can do some crazy pose. It's meditative and a great compliment to your running practice."
