Solon PTA Coat Swap Set for Next Week

The Solon Early Childhood PTA is helping area families save money and get new coats and snowsuits for kids. The first annual β€œSnowsuit and Winter Coat Exchange” takes place on 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25Β as part of the group’s monthly meeting.Β

"We don't want to face it, but summer is over," said snowsuit swap organizer Kate Isroff. "Our thoughts are turning to fall fun and cozy thoughts of winter." Β

Now is the time to make sure your little ones are ready. Β Members should bring clean outerwear to the swap with their name attached with a safety pin. Drop off time is 6:30pm until 7pm.Β Β At that time, participants will receive a random number. After the meeting and speaker on "Saving for College," it’s time to choose a new coat or snowsuit. If the item you brought is not chosen, it will be returned to you, or, if you wish, donated to a local charity.

"After the success of our Halloween Costume Swap at the end of September, we wanted to come up with another way for families to stretch hard earned dollars," said SECPTA President, Jacquelyn Frederick. Β "Children grow so quickly that often their winter coats, especially the special occasion coats, are practically new."

SECPTA is a unit of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), organized for the parents of preschool age children (birth–5), regardless of what school the child will attend. We always welcome new members from Solon and the surrounding communities. If you are the parent of a preschool age child or infant, we have something for you. The purpose of our organization is to help parents of preschool age children better understand their children via qualified resources, educational programs, the sharing of experiences, and social activities.Β Β Membership is ongoing.
