City Council Quick Takes: Ward Redistricting, Community Promise and More

Here's a quick bit of information about what happened at Monday's City Council meeting

β€’ The Ward Redistricting Committee presented a map of how the city's seven wards should be redrawn. Craig Novak said the committee used the most recent census data, compared it to 2000's census data and made it so the wards had a close-to equal number of residents. Wards 1, 2 and 3 had the biggest changes. Council didn't vote on a change because Councilwoman Nancy Meany wasn't there. Check back later this week for a bigger story on how the wards might change.

β€’ Mayor Susan Drucker accepted the Community Promise award from Providence House for the city's help and generous contributions over the last 30 years. Representative Paul O’Connor said residents have given more than $233,000 in donations. Providence House provides aid to families in crisis situations.

β€’ The Building and Housing Code establishing minimum standards for residential rental units and the Deer Management Plan were on the agenda but because Nancy Meany was absent, it wasn't discussed.
