Copley Home Fire Likely Caused By Electrical Equipment

No one was injured after a fire started Monday in the basement of the home at 6545 Copley Avenue.

Fire investigators believe on Monday was accidental and caused by electrical equipment.

Chief Bill Shaw said the home at 6545 Copley Avenue suffered about $35,000 worth of damage, which was limited to the basement where the fire started.

A person was inside the home when the fire started -- they saw smoke. The occupant called 911 and fled the house.This happened at about 5:31 p.m. Monday.

Three enginees, two ambulances and a command car filled with 12 fire department officials arrived on the scene within three minutes ot see smoke coming from the house.

The fire was located in the basement and under control by 5:53 p.m.

The resident was evaluated by paramedics for smoke inhalation, but was OK and refused treatment. No firefighters were injured battling the blaze.
