A 19-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide.
SOLON, OH — A 19-year-old man faces charges in connection with a fatal car crash that killed an 85-year-old woman in Solon last week.
Jaymarlon Hayes, 19, from Berea, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, carrying a concealed weapon and failure to comply, Solon police announced Thursday. All charges are felonies.
Hayes is currently hospitalized with injuries suffered during the crash on Dec. 3. He is under the watch of Solon police and will be transferred to the custody of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff when he is medically cleared.

Hayes and another man — who has not yet been charged due to his medical condition, police said — were driving a stolen Ford Fusion through Solon on Dec. 3. Their vehicle was spotted by police and officers tried to pull the car over.
Instead, Hayes sped away from officers, police said. Officers deployed Stop Sticks to try and slow the car down, but Hayes swerved away from the sticks and lost control of his car, police added.

The Ford Fusion hit two cars on the Solon Road, hurting three people in the process: an 85-year-old woman from Bainbridge Township; her husband, an 89-year-old from Bainbridge; and a 37-year-old man from North Bloomfield, police noted. The 37-year-old was in one car, while the couple from Bainbridge were in another.
The 85-year-old woman was rushed to Hillcrest Hospital but died from her injuries, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner confirmed.
"Solon Police Department expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the woman who passed away as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash. The family has asked for privacy while they deal with this tragedy," police said in a statement issued Thursday afternoon.
