Do You Have What It Takes to Help Solon Police?

The Solon Police Department is holding a nine-week course for citizens to learn about the police force.

The Solon Police Department is hosting a Citizens Police Academy beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1

The nine-week program is scheduled for Tuesday nights from 6:30- 9:30 p.m. Classes will be held in Solon. 

The program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Solon Police Department.  The goal is to increase citizen awareness of the day-to-day operation of the Solon Police Department by educating them on various topics relative to the role of a police officer.

 It consists of a series of classes and discussions on various topics. During the sessions students will be presented with information on various aspects of police work as it relates to our community.

At the end of the nine weeks graduates will be permitted to schedule a ride along with a patrol officer for one evening.

Graduates will also be eligible to become a member of the newly formed

The deadline for applications is September 16.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old by Sept. 1, 2013 and must be a resident or business owner/manager in Solon. Applicants are subject to a background check and may be denied acceptance into the academy based upon those checks. There is no fee to attend.
