Man Leads Solon Police on High-Speed Chase; Caught Later

A Newberry man is accused of fleeing arrest after he led on a high speed chase after the police tried to pull him over for driving with expired temporary tags.
Arrested and charged was Geoffrey Sigany, 41, of Newberry, for fleeing and eluding arrest, driving under suspension, littering and speeding and improper passing.
According to the police report, an officer was driving on U.S. 422 eastbound near Harper Road at 10:59 p.m. on Dec. 30 when he tried to pull over a GMC Jimmy with expired temp tags.

Instead of complying, the driver of the GMC sped up. The officer pursued.
The GMC reached speeds of 95 and was swerving in lanes. He exited 422 at Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge and turned down Bainbridge Road. The officer decided to break off pursuit.

Lt. Bruce Felton, a police spokesman, said that the officer stopped the chase, with approval from his superior, because of the growing danger of chasing the suspect.
Police eventually tracked the GMC to a Newberry address, where Sigany was arrested and charged.
