Marc's Renovation Plans Move Forward

The Solon Planning Commission signed off on a expansion and remodeling plan for the Marc's in Solon. The City Council will vote on the plan Sept. 4.

Marc's is a step closer to having a bigger and better looking store in Solon.

The Solon Planning Commission passed plans for Marc's expansion on to the city council, which is expected to vote on a revised site plan and some variances for the project on Sept. 4.

hopes to build a 4,400-square-foot addition onto the back of the store and also add on another 8,300 square feet by expanding into the location next door. Pet Supplies Plus plans to move to the at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads.

The exterior renovations include facing the building -- both Marc's and storefronts to the south -- with a red brick to bring that part of the building into better symmetry with Sears on the north end of the plaza.

"I think it's a major improvement," said planning commission member William Mazur.

Kurt Schmitz with ADA Achitects, representing Marc's, said they hope to have the work done "as soon as possible."

Marc's has been busy updating the look of many of their stores in the Cleveland area.
