New Restaurant: Burntwood Tavern Approved By City Council
The tavern plans to build an outdoor patio and make stylish updates to the old Max & Erma's building.

Plans for Burntwood Tavern, which plans to open in the old Max & Erma's building, was approved Monday by the .
Burntwood Tavern, which has locations in Chagrin Falls and Rocky River, is looking to open at the now-vacant building on the northwest corner of Solon Road and Kruse Drive, according to Solon Planning Department documents.
City Council voted unanimously to approve variances that will allow the building owner, George Simon, to update the building for Burntwood Tavern, including stylish updates to the building's exterior, a covered patio and an additional driveway on Solon Road.

Updates to the building exterior include timber framing, a galvanized metal roof with a matte finish, lantern-style light fixtures a barnwood door, a new cupola and repainted trim, said Brad Kershaw, an architect working on the project.
The Planning Commission approved the proposal earlier this month and city council signed off on it Monday.

The restaurant also requested a liquor license from city council, which was also approved.
According to Burntwood's website, the tavern offers "straight forward with steaks, sliders, hand cut fries, smoked, planked, and wood grilled food."
There's no word yet on when the tavern will open. One of its owners, Bret Adams, said earlier this month that it was too early to talk about their plans for the Solon location.
