Popular Pastor, Solon Resident, Sentenced to Prison

A popular Cleveland pastor who owns a home in Solon was sentenced to 15 months in prison for cheating on more than $90,000 on federal taxes, according to the Plain Dealer.
Rev. C. Jay Matthews was sentenced Wednesday in federal court. In September, Matthews had admitted to collecting $90,600 worth of taxes from employees at the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church without reporting it to the IRS.
According to the Plain Dealer report, Matthews used some of the money to buy a house in Solon valued at more than $560,000 and a Jaguar car.
