Solon Charter Amendment: Change To Election Filing Deadline

Issue No. 88 looks to get the city's charter up to date with the state law requiring candidates to file 90 days before an election.

Billed as a β€œhousekeeping” measure, Solon is one of 15 communities in Cuyahoga County looking to update its charter to reflect the state law requiring candidates to file 90 days before a primary election.

TheΒ Cuyahoga County Board of ElectionsΒ asked 15 cities β€” including Solon, Lakewood and Strongsville β€” to have the same filing deadline as the state.

The measure will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot as Issue No. 88.

Area law directors have said that the county doesn’t want to have different communities with different sets of requirements.
