Solon Man Loses $27,000 in Ebay Fraud Scheme

There is a 40-year-old Solon man kicking himself right now.

That's because he fell for an Ebay fraud scheme, losing $27,000 he planned to buy a truck with, according to a Solon police report.

The man was looking to buy a 2011 Ford Explorer on Ebay Motors, a place where you can buy or sell cars.

The man began a transaction with a seller supposedly in Michigan when the seller began to deviate from Ebay's selling policies, providing the Solon man with a number of excuses.

The "seller" told the man to wire transfer $27,000 to a place in Maryland. He did that, and no truck was forthcoming.

The man filed a report with Solon Police on Dec. 2. Solon Police, Ebay, and the Department of Justice are investigating.

It's unclear if the man will have a chance at getting back any of his money.
