Solon School Policy Committee Will Consider Honoring Kotora

The Solon Board of Education referred a request to name the high school auditorium after the late principal E. James Kotora to its policy committee.

The referred a request to name the high school auditorium after the late principal E. James Kotora to its policy committee.

Board President Margo Morrow said the committee will look not just at honoring Kotora but also examine how the school system should handle future requests to honor people.

The request was made by Mike Cook, a Solon High graduate who began an effort to honor Kotora after the popular former principal died in 2011.

He begn with a a social media campaign on Facebook to .

That effort hit some roadblocks because the street is owned by the city, which in turn asked Kotora supporters to talk to the school board.

So the auditorium became the next focal point as a place to honor Kotora.
