Stein Mart Closing: Solon Location 'Just Not Working' For Company

Stein Mart Chief Financial Officer Gregory Kleffner confirmed the store was closing. He said that Stein Mart likes the Cleveland market and has two other locations there, one in Beachwood and one in Westlake.

He said the Solon store "was just not working good for us."

Kleffner said they are looking for other areas in Northeast Ohio to open stores.

Representatives at the store confirmed to Solon Patch that the retail chain's location at Solon Square shopping plaza will be closing soon.

Signs outside the store show that Stein Mart is liquidating its inventory.

Solon's Economic Development Director Peggy Weil-Dorfman said Stein Mart told the city the chain cannot support two stores so close together. There is another store on Chagrin Boulevard in Beachwood.

Weil-Dorfman said the store is expected to close by mid-May.
