Vandals cover Solon High School students' cars with condiments

What do mustard, barbecue sauce, maple syrup and a purple marker have in common?

The condiments were used to vandalize the cars of two Solon High School students cars in the last couple weeks.

Solon Police Department officials were called to two separate incidents on March 19 involving the condiments.

A 16-year-old Pine Lane victim reported the crime at 10 a.m. on March 19. Officials said the victim’s 2010 Subaru was covered with mustard and barbecue sauce, and the suspects used a purple permanent marker to write profanity on the car.

A 17-year-old Liberty Road victim reported a separate incident at 12:30 p.m. the same day, but she reported that the suspects had covered her car with maple syrup, barbecue sauce and had also written profanity in purple marker.

Police said neither victim knew the other before the crimes occurred. Solon detectives said they have heard other incidents like this occurred in the area, but had not been reported. They are encouraging other victims to call the police station at 248-1234.

There are no suspects at this time, and police are still investigating.Β
