Vandals Decapitate Solon Woman's Italian Marble Statue

A Solon woman learned that her expensive marble statue imported from Italy suffered a sad fate: Someone removed its head.

According to a report the woman found the decapitated statue, with the head laying nearby, on April 4 at about 8 p.m. The statue was in the woman's yard on Wintergreen Drive.

The statue's head was removed by "unknown means," according to the police report.

The woman told police that the statue was Carrera marble and imported from Italy. The statue is valued at about $4,000.

Police have no suspects.
