The Stow Symphony Orchestra announcesΒ its Fall concert offering, opening its 16th season underΒ Director Darrell Lee Music the concert will be performed at the TallmadgeΒ Alliance Church, 1155 East Avenue, Tallmadge, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 5, atΒ 7:30 p.m. Β

To open the Halloween season, the Orchestra will feature two classic β€œspooky” numbers: Β Dvorak’s β€œThe Noon Witch,” which conveys a tale of supernaturalΒ tragedy, and Saint-SaΓ«ns’ β€œDanse Macabre,” which features the unusual andΒ unearthly tuning of Concert Master Frances Hamilton’s violin.

Ms. Hamilton and Orchestra violinist Ian McIntyre join in Bach’s β€œDouble Violin Concerto in d minor,” one of the most often-performed staples of the Baroque Β violin literature.

And the Orchestra continues its exploration of the Beethoven symphonies withΒ the melodic Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68, the β€œPastoral.” BeethovenΒ was an ardent nature lover who spent a great deal of his time on walks in Β the country. Motifs in the work express his cheerful feelings on arrival in theΒ country setting, a babbling brook, bird calls, peasant dances, and a violentΒ summer storm.
