  1. Cuyahoga County has been awarded $1 million in grants by the U.S. Department of Justice to improve its central booking diversion programs. The two programs are meant to reduce the level of low-level criminals in jail. They use a combination of mental health and addiction treatments to prevent certain suspects from being held at county jails. (Cleveland.com)
  2. Three Cuyahoga County first responder agencies received state funds through the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program's first funding round. The Beachwood Police Department received $29,750, the Brecksville Police and Fire Departments received $14,800, and the Cleveland Department of Public Safety received $310,000. The first round of funding was worth $1.67 million and was distributed to 26 agencies, in total. (Ohio Governor's Office)
  3. A Cuyahoga County Grand Jury has indicted Raymond Francis, 23 years old, on charges related to the theft of a BMW from a Strongsville dealership. Francis has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to comply, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held on a $1 million bond. (Cleveland19)
