  1. Last month, the Strongsville City Council approved amendments to the city's municipal code that brings the city's laws in line with Ohio Revised Code regarding self-identification to police. Under the new amendments, residents will no longer have to identify themselves to the Strongsville Police Department unless an officer "reasonably suspects" a crime has occurred. Also, profanities are no longer illegal in Strongsville. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
  2. The Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas has announced the trial date for the man accused of fatally shooting a Cleveland police detective. Jury selection will start on Mar. 31, 2023. Judge Michael Shaughnessy will be presiding over the trial. David McDaniel, 21 years old, will be facing the death penalty if convicted. (Cleveland 19)
  3. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office reports that it has opened an investigation into the Lake Erie fishing tournament scandal. Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky were disqualified for making their fish heavier. The pair put prepared fish filets and lead weights into their submitted fish to trick the scales. (ESPN.com)
