City of Strongsville to Assist with Security for the Republican National Convention
Strongsville along with other communities will be offering their support for the city of Cleveland while they host the RNC.

Strongsville City Council has approved a mutual-aid agreement with the city of Cleveland which will provide two Strongsville police officers to patrol downtown Cleveland during the RNC next week. The agreement states that Cleveland will pay the salaries of the two officers while they are working the convention, reports cleveland.com.
Other communities in the area are helping with the RNC.
- Lakewood will be loaning 5 bike officers, several SWAT surveillance team members, and two motorcycle officers to support the Cleveland police force during the RNC. Lakewood firefighters will also be available to respond to downtown protests as well as participate in bomb squad and hazardous material teams.
- North Royalton and Brecksville have agreed to provide two officers if needed.
- 83 Cuyahoga County sheriff deputies will also be helping out.
According to cleveland.com, the agreement states that Cleveland will be paying the Strongsville officers straight time plus any overtime pay they might accrue during the convention.

Strongsville was careful not to commit too many officers to the RNC because they could have their hands full with the Republican delegation from Virginia staying at the Strongsville Holiday Inn next week.
