Here are the top three stories today in Strongsville:

  1. The house fire on Janette Drive was so challenging that it required assistance from three other fire departments. The Strongsville Fire Department had to request assistance from Berea, Middleburg Heights, and North Royalton. The fire was reportedly a challenge due to warm temperatures, high humidity, and severe thunderstorms impacting the area. The fire's location was also a factor. (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. The family of a woman killed during a crash last Friday is speaking out about the desire for justice. Raymond Francis, 23, struck Annelise Andres' vehicle while fleeing from police near Clark Avenue and West 45 Street. Francis was fleeing from the police because the black BMW he was driving was stolen from a Strongsville dealership. He is facing aggravated vehicular homicide, theft of a motor vehicle, failure to comply, and possession of marijuana. (Cleveland 19 News)
  3. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office reports an increase in attempted carjackings in August. Between Aug. 9 and Aug. 24, 30 different attempted carjackings occurred throughout the county. Several local law enforcement agencies are working on reducing the amount. The agencies are using surveillance footage to track down and arrest the carjacking suspects. (News 5 Cleveland)

  • The Strongsville Police Department reminds the community that there is help for drug addiction. The department has a secure drug drop box in its lobby.   • Don't forget: Strongsville Shred Day is on Sep. 10 at Jardine Funeral Home. The event will be offering free paper shredding to all residents between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Don't miss it. (City of Strongsville)
